In this session you have been introduced to the general notion of archaeology as a discipline. You will be familiar with the questions that archaeologists must pose in their efforts to learn about past civilisations. In the end, archaeology is about people: the people who produced the evidence which we archaeologists discover. You will also have been introduced to the three main archaeological epochs on Crete and you will understand their significance to this course.
In the next session, we move on to explore how archaeologists are able to date their finds.
