In this session we have looked at how Crete came to be of interest to people in the Mediaeval and Modern European periods. You should now be familiar with the early travellers of these periods, and the significance of their discoveries and records to later investigators. You should also be familiar with the importance of the political context of investigations in these periods.
In the next session, we will consider the significance of the discovery of a Prehistoric period in the Aegean.
