Unit 2 Session 3: Putting It All Together

Putting it all together

In this session we have shown how an interest in Mediaeval-Modern Cretan history only began to take shape in the early twentieth century, and how this interest, originally focused on two distinct areas: art history and architecture, is now combined with archaeological field work. You should now be familiar with religious icons, and the place they hold in Cretan history, as well as the significance of the different types of buildings (religious, domestic or fortified) from this period.

In the next session, we provide an overview of how archaeology is managed on Crete today by the Greek government.
