Similarities at Particular Altitudes

For Ag. Marina and other Prehistoric sites – Region 8, you looked at altitude and site size. Here we suggest that you also investigate site function to see whether it varies along with altitude.

• In the Site database, select ‘Venetian’ in the BYZANTINE-MODERN PHASE field, enter ‘8’ in the SITE REGION field, and click BEGIN SEARCH. This will return Venetian sites in Region 8. Analyse the information in the ELEVATION (altitude) field.
• Read the site entry for Kallikrati (8.66). Is its altitude higher or lower that that of Patsianos? What about the site function of Kallikrati? Is it used at the same time of year? And is it used for the same agricultural activities, or for different ones?
